As a business owner, you know that crafting dynamic and inspirational social media content can be a job in and of itself. It can be tempting to think content needs to be new and fresh in order to be engaging, but following that mindset can consume a lot of time! Work less while getting more done by reusing and recycling previous content you’ve already created.
“But won’t my audience get tired of reading the same thing?” you might ask? Absolutely not! Recycling content will be beneficial for new followers reading it for the first time, reinforce messaging for longtime followers, and re-engage existing followers who may have missed the post. Here are seven hacks for creating social media content in a matter of minutes:
HACK #1: THE NEWSLETTER HACK
Breakdown an old email newsletter or blog entry into individual social media posts. Use these posts as content teasers inviting your followers to also join your newsletter or blog audience. Because these mediums run lengthier than their social media counterparts, breaking them down offers content for days, if not weeks, to come!
HACK #2: THE REPOST HACK
Repost past social media posts that received high engagement. This is, perhaps, our most favorite hack as it requires the least amount of effort! Set aside a few minutes to scroll through your feed, identify a handful of top-performing posts, et voila! Your content for the week has been created and scheduled.
HACK #3: THE PLATFORM HACK
Reuse content across platforms. Turn a Tweet into the caption for an Instagram post, or edit an Instagram caption down to 140 characters to post on Twitter.
HACK #4: THE COMMENT HACK
Every now and then, a follower on social media drops their own profound wisdom in your comments section as a response to a post that really spoke to them. Pass this wisdom along! Turn a provocative comment into its own featured post. You can even make a practice of asking your audience for their opinions on topics related to your brand. Turn your favorite responses into individual posts or a carousel.
HACK #5: THE QUOTE HACK
Comb through your website, previous newsletters, past social media posts, and any other collateral and pull meaningful and inspirational quotes from your own text. Turn the quote into a graphic, and use the post to drive followers to your website, newsletter, or offerings.
HACK #6: THE OFFERING HACK
Breakdown content from an e-course, workbook or similar offering into individual social media posts with easy-to-execute exercises. Otherwise, you can drop bite-size tips and exercises into individualized graphics that are part of a carousel . As with the hack above, use the post as a lead-generator to drive followers to your website or paid offerings.
HACK #7: THE FEEDBACK HACK
If you’ve ever received positive feedback from a client or customer in the form of a text or email, consider turning that praise into a #testimonialtuesday post by transforming it into a graphic, posting it as a screen capture, or posting it as a caption paired with your brilliant brand photography. Post with permission, of course!
